The Going Stateside challenge, part of Girlguiding Midlands’ celebrations for the Senior Section Spectacular comprised of one hundred challenges of different points values which the teams could complete to score points. These challenges fell into categories such as Places to Go, Guide and Scout things, Things to Find and People to Meet and covered challenges from “Learn a new campfire song” and “Ride in a yellow school bus” to “Meet a celebrity” and “Visit Niagra Falls”.
The Shropshire Stars team planned their route across North America, which took them from New York to Toronto, Washington D.C, New Jersey and back to New York City in the space of just ten days, completing as many challenges as they could along the way.
Arriving back at Central Park in New York for the closing ceremony, the Shropshire Stars were pleased to hear that their team had been awarded second place in the Senior Section Goes Stateside challenge. Congratulations, girls!
