The County is divided into 7 divisions;
Each division has a number of districts within it. We also have a County team that look after specialist areas such as outdoors, senior section and International. Run the “Area Contact Details” report on Go! to find the people who can help you.
We have an office in Donnington, which is not staffed and a residential property in Lyneal in the north of the County.

Our County PR team is very active but the best PR comes from the the girls and young women themselves.
Engagement of the local media is important to show that Girlguiding is still very relevant to today’s young women and to showcase the good work that we are doing in the county. Please contact your local newspapers they are always looking for good stories.
Don’t forget the power of social media too, you can tweet and tag us on Instagram with what you have been doing and put appropriate coverage on Facebook. There is a guide to photography within Girlguiding attached below that we will try and keep updated. Don’t forget to send copies to the PR team 🙂
Our rural location makes Shropshire perfect for outdoor activities. The County has many participants in the DofE programme and leaders enjoy the outdoors with their girls on day events, during unit meeting times and for residential events.
We have a campsite, Bickley Coppice belonging to Shrewsbury Division Scouts and Guides, a greenfield site that is being developed which is ideal for permit camps and quiet weekends away.
We also have a water and walking advisor who is available to support any leader wishing to gain qualifications in these areas or to give the additional skills to undertake DofE supervision.

Peer Education is an opportunity for Rangers and 18-30 members to share their love of Guiding with younger members, and give them confidence, knowledge and experience in a safe and fun environment.
It’s a great way to gain new skills and experiences with other Senior Section members, to improve your leadership abilities and confidence whilst promoting Girlguiding in your area.
To become a Peer Educator for Shropshire all you need to do is contact the Peer Education Coordinator on the link below and take part in a Basic Training weekend where you will be shown how to run fun, effective interactive sessions for all ages. The training is free and you will be given all materials needed to run your sessions.
Guides and Brownie groups can book a Free Being Me session with their unit at a cost of £2 per girl below. This covers all the training materials and giveaways for the girls.
We have a County Badge secretary who stocks a wide range of all types of badges including event badges and challenge badges, please order from her direct as all profit is returned to the County.
Remember that special edition badges always sell out quickly so be sure to order in plenty of time.

We have National Trust membership, which covers entrance for units visiting NT venues. Please check with the venue prior to visiting, as some require a copy of the card. If you need this, get in contact with the county team.

What is the challenge? The Shropshire Way Challenge is for members of Girlguiding Shropshire, between us, to walk the entire 200 miles of the newly way marked Shropshire Way. You can do as much or little as you like, every step counts, and all participants can gain a badge for taking part.
When is it happening? Between Thinking Day 2020 and Thinking Day 2022.
Join us on a Guided Walk for Girlguiding Shropshire members on 27th June 2021. Much Wenlock to Coalbrookdale. There are opportunities for all sections to take part. Booking required, please see the informaton below.
We hope you can join us for our Shropshire sleep/camp over event. Make a den, sleep somewhere different or put up your tent in the garden…then join the fun!
The programme includes a range of activities for all sections and these can be done with your unit or individually at home. And of course….there’s a gorgeous badge!

Shropshire All Aboard!
Shropshire All Aboard is a county wide initiative to encourage members to take to the water. Saturday 4th September is ‘Water Day’ a county event with book-and-go water activities for all sections, running in several different locations.
Whether you would like to have a go at helming a narrow boat on the Shropshire Union Canal, sailing a dinghy, or splashing about in smaller boats on the Severn there is a choice to suit all ages and abilities.
Canal boating and Sailing will be available near Ellesmere, whilst Canoeing, Kayaking and Paddle-boarding are on offer in Shrewsbury.
Places will be sold on a first-come-first served basis, and prices and sessions times vary. All participants will get an event badge. Please see the attached booking form and FAQ sheet for more information.
As spaces are limited, please call or email Miriam Butler (water advisor) on 07966 947216 to reserve places before returning the booking form with payment.
Please note: currently we are only able to offer 10 spaces per session for sailing. If Covid regulations are relaxed in June this will increase to 20. I will operate a ‘waiting list’ system for these additional places.
The canal between Lyneal and Ellesmere is part of the Shropshire Way – why not do Shropshire All Aboard! alongside the Shropshire Way Challenge and make a day of it?
